Frequently Asked Questions
General
What can I do with LeapFILE?
LeapFILE is perfect for sending large files such as images, scans, PowerPoint presentations, databases, and media files. LeapFILE is also perfect for sending confidential documents and critical business communication.
Why not just use email?
Email has two major limitation: 1) Email does not handle large attachments. Most email server will reject email with attachments over 1MB. 2) Email is not secure since email messages are routed through the Internet in clear text and through multiple parties. Email messages can be encrypted but only if all parties are using the same encryption system. LeapFILE works with email to address these limitations.
Why not use FTP?
FTP is not designed for regular users or ad hoc file transfers. FTP requires special its own software client, requires server administration, and is not secure. FTP also does not automatically notify receivers, provide status tracking, generate download alerts, or automate the transfer process. For transferring files to clients or friends, FTP is simply too cumbersome.
Is this a file hosting service?
No. LeapFILE is specifically designed for sending and receiving files on the Internet. Files are uploaded only for delivery. Once a file has been delivered, it is automatically deleted. This focus makes the service much more convenient and easier to use.

Do receivers have to sign up for LeapFILE?

How does LeapFILE provide security for my files?
LeapFILE automatically protects your information under several layers of access firewalls and data encryption. At the lowest level, all data communication over the Internet is protected by the highest level of SSL data encryption. This prevents data from being tampered or viewed while traveling over public networks. The next levels of protection prevent unauthorized access to the file. In order to obtain a file, a user must supply the personalized download link, the correct email address, and the correct access code. After the user successfully provides all the required information and download the files, the files are automatically purged from the system.
